History

The Bogle Plantation was located on Wadmalaw Island, Charleston County, South Carolina. Charles J. Bailey (1824-1854), son of Henry Bailey, owned the Bogle Plantation. Charles Bailey died in 1854. His son, Charles Henry Bailey likely took over the plantation after the death of his father.

The probate inventory in 1854 of Charles J. Bailey named the following slaves at the Bogle Plantation on Wadmalaw Island:[1]

In 1866, after the Civil War, the Freedmen's Bureau recorded the persons who were living on the Bogle Plantation (owned by Charles Bailey):[2] Men
